Season Recap

Well, I have risen from the dead. I have taken some time off to rest, work and basically be a bum. Well those days are over. We are getting ready for the Team One Showcase in Jupiter mid September and then a game or 2 with Palm Beach Community College to tune up for the WWBA World Championship.
I do admit being a bit lazy but I needed the break. A nice article was penned for the team by an anonymous author and I wanted to share it with all of you. I promise to keep you more in the loop from now on. Here goes:

Diamond Vision Elite/Wellington Travel Baseball

The Diamond Vision Elite 17 and under baseball team completed an outstanding summer by winning the 60 team Baseball Championship Series Tournament in Ft. Myers. Previous to the BCS championship, DVE (which is the Wellington Travel Baseball 17u team) was the number one seed in the Team One 18u tournament in Jupiter before losing in the playoffs. DVE went on to win the World Federation 18 and under Tournament in Kissimmee, then placed 3rd in the 192 team World Wood Bat Association National Tournament in East Cobb, Georgia. The team has won 33 games this summer while only losing 3 and tying 3. DVE will continue its play in September at a Jupiter showcase and October at the World Wood Bat Association National Tournament in Jupiter.

DVE was assembled by General Manager Peter Greenberg and Head Coach Chad Upson. The team is comprised of some of the best 16 and 17 year old baseball players in Palm Beach County, representing 10 different high schools. The players and their schools are: Bryan Adametz, Nick Ferraresi, Travis Holloway, Julian Ovalle and Matt Soloman from Wellington High School; Jonathan Bostley, Kyle Finch, Jake Meiers, Ryan Roberson and Devon Travis from Palm Beach Central; Steven Arvanitis and Josh Scott from Seminole Ridge; Alec Cruikshank and Jimmy Holten from Cardinal Newman; Matt Delay, J.D. Delvalle and Derek Neisman from American Heritage; Cameron Horton from Pope John Paul; Rob Marcello from Royal Palm Beach; Jesse Russianoff and Dane Wisneski from Palm Beach Gardens; and Joey Todd from Park Vista.

Palm Beach County residents should be proud of the way these young men represent our area on and off the field. The team is coached with enthusiasm by Head Coach Chad Upson and Pitching Coach Sean Killeen.

Thanks and work hard in school

BCS Recap

Good Evening. Here we are in Ft Myers for the BCS 17U Finals.
We are 3-0 with 43 runs scored and 3 runs allowed.
Day One had Josh Scott on the mound against Long Island Lions. He pitched well and finished the game.
Day Two had Jake Meiers on the mound with good enough stuff to get the win. Matt Delay came in for the closing save.
In the second game of the day Steven Arvanitis was throwing very well with a good close by Julian Ovalle.

Our offense with metal bats hit very strong and ran with reckless abandonment. The defense was stellar and we face a strong team from Tampa tomorrow at 9 AM. As of tonight (Friday) we are seeded # 1 in the tournament.
Kudos to all

Lights out at 10:30

What a Day

Good evening from Georgia. We have finished an awesome day of baseball. We placed third in the 17U WWBA National Championship. We beat, Nrcall 2010, North Hurricanes and an awesome come from behind win over the reigning championions 4-2 with a bottom of the inning , leave them on the field victory over the Dirtbags. Julian Ovalle , one of or up and coming juniors pitched a gem. He has matured very well over this season.
We faced The Diamond Devils (who went on to win the event) and lost a heartbreaker 13-6. It was the most runs we have allowed all year at one time. The team played their hearts out but hit that ever present wall.
Hats off to the Diamond Devils, they played well and hit the ball with conviction. They went on to win the event.
This GM is proud of both his players and coaches. They do not know the meaning of the word defeat.
I believe we have made people stand up and take notice. Not one of the teams expected us to play with such athleticism and determination.
Off to Ft Myers and the BCS Nationals. We will fair well as we figure the competition to be good.

Saturday Recap

Sorry for such a delay but we have been very busy winning. We are now 4-0-1 and are seeded 17th out of 64 remaining teams. We are now into the round of 32 with a big win over New England Roughnecks 7-1. Kyle Finch pitched 6 innings of great baseball. Josh Scott came in to close and we are now awaiting our next opponent.
This week we have had great team performance from ALL players. I would have to write a ten page blog to cover everyone.
This group of young men are a cohesive unit led by Coaches Chad Upson and Sean Killeen ( who has his pitching staff only allowing 2 runs so far in this tournament).
I just want to add that I am proud of all parents, players and coaches for an awesome continuing effort. We are not finished yet and we will prevail.

A Great Victory

Conratulations, we are the 2008 WBF 18/U Champions. It was a great game and the squad showed no fear. The Florida Legends are a great ball club and we had to be right on target. I am exceptionally proud of the hard work put forth by all.
I took the liberty of pulling the box scores from The Legends website so I could provide you all the info to review. http://www.floridalegends.net/stats/062908.htm

Devon Travis was on fire, Jake Meiers was tough as nails on the mound. Both Matt Solomon and Josh Scott worked well to close. Derek Niesman and Ryan Roberson went yard to put the game away.
We definatly made a statement and set the bar high for us to continue on.
MVP-Devon Travis
Home Run Award-Derek Niesman

See you all in Georgia

Day 1 of Travel

Well here we are at the hotel. All is quiet and the team gets ready for the WWBA Nationals.
I expect us to fair very well. We are a team based squad that runs, throws and hits as a team.
Coaches Chad and Sean have prepared them well.
More to follow.
By the way, we are combined 9-1-1. Not bad if I do say so myself
